The rebuilt walkers are built by `tools/film/hominins/build.sh`, the foreground objects of the species changes by `tools/film/hominins/occluders.py`; the chimpanzee and the environment by `tools/film/hand/build.sh`. ## Characters Every character is a Tripo AI output, generated on Rextail's paid account and owned by Rextail. Four of the five were rebuilt for AAA close-up use with `tools/film/hominins/` (`build.sh` lists every step): each master aligned and measured (joints from the surface, every finger's joints from its centreline), decimated with the hands kept dense, given its own 61-bone skeleton (three phalanges per finger, a forearm twist bone, the 4th and 5th metacarpals that cup the palm) with bone-heat weights split per finger and kept apart from the body by skin distance, its lost detail baked back from the 2M-triangle master (normal and occlusion), and animated on the chapter's treadmill. | File | What it is | Source | Licence / rights | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | `chimp.glb` | Chimpanzee-like ancestor (not rebuilt: its master's fingers are sculpted pressed together, which the finger measurement cannot separate). 45k triangles, 71 joints, shown at a scale of 0.85. CMU: see the note below. | | `sapiens.glb`, `sapiens-lod1.glb` | Early *Homo sapiens*, 1.75 m: the last walker and the knapper, rebuilt from a new A-pose master: 200k triangles with 51k in the hands (phones 60k), 4K colour and normal maps, 2K occlusion/roughness. Clips: `walk` (CMU `35_02`; he carries the hammerstone), `squat` (authored: he squats and picks the flint nodule up) and `knap` (authored: a 4 s loop of two glancing blows and a look at the core). His hands hold the stones themselves: the stones' point clouds ride on the hand bones and the chapter builds the stones round them (`hand/stones.js`); the grips were solved against them (`grip.py`). | Tripo: text_to_image `d24f06be-c80b-4aff-8a36-00a86bf8d7f4` (A-pose reference, not shipped), image_to_model `a89fb274-f085-4a6e-ad13-88d0c98749a9` (v3.1, detailed geometry, extreme texture: an 8K colour map, PBR) | Tripo output owned by Rextail. CMU: see the note below. | **Finger bones.** The rebuilt walkers carry their own skeletons, measured from their meshes (`tools/film/hominins/measure_landmarks.py`, `rig_hominin.py`). The chimpanzee keeps the finger bones added to its Tripo rig by `tools/film/hand/fingers.py`. **Reference images.** The reference images were Tripo text_to_image outputs (the banana_pro model), used only as input to image_to_model. None of them is shipped. ## Environment (CC0) | File | What it is | Source | Licence | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | `env.hdr`, `sky.webp` | The image-based light (512×256 RGBE) and the backdrop band (4096×547, gamma-encoded HDR), both turned so the sun sits behind the walker. | Poly Haven, "Plains Sunset".
